This is the story that had written the students in 5th and 6th Primary from CPR Barranco de Poqueira.
We decided make it in collaboration. First, from Bubion school, pupils began the story. Two weeks later, it was completed and finished in Capileira school.
They all worked in groups, writing and drawing the pictures.
ThingLink
is a simple piece of code that users can install on their website or blog. This
code allows teachers or students to designate parts of sites or pages
(pictures, etc.) that will produce a pop-up with a description and or a link to
something else on the web.
This is a
great way to make static images interactive as well and using ThingLink will
also allow users to track analytics of the images and links that they have
shared.
Today, some reporters of ESO4 at IES La Zafra in Motril, present a second post about the "HRC Project" they did a few weeks ago. The post was meant to be a radio program including some interviews to some of the people who took part in the project, but finally they have decided to include some pictures and turn it into a video. Here's the result. We hope you like it:
And just to better understand the development of this activity, here's another video that this same group included in their official presentation:
In our aim to improve and increase our students' vocabulary, we taught them OPPOSITES. This is our schedule for two ESL lessons:
We introduce the new
vocabulary to them with the flashcards and using different vocabulary games on the
carpet.
2. We played a special BINGO, they created the bingo card in their notebooks and they had to choose nine adjectives. The teacher passed the flashcards around and they had to guess what the opposite was, and check if they had it into their bingo card.
3. Then we played a pair game, with some mini-flashcards in which they had to look for an adjective and its opposite.
4. Then we created OUR OPPOSITES BOOK, in which the students had to choose five adjectives and their opposites, they had to draw and write sentences about them.
In the following video you can see the final book made by Zu Lei, one of my Year 2 students. He is seven years old and he is Chinese.
5. Some of them had the opportunity of reading their books to their classmates. Here you are the moment when Andrés told them about his opposites book.
I hope you have liked it and found it useful for your esl lessons!

If you had to define intelligence, what definition would you give?
How do you think we currently measure intelligence? Do you think it should be measured that way?
Where do people get their intelligence from?
Now, go to an intelligence test:
Visit this intelligence test and try to answer as many questions as you can.
Do the questions give a true reflection of intelligence, in your opinion?
Let's watch a video where Horizon takes seven people who are some of the highest flyers in their field - a musical prodigy, a quantum physicist, an artist, a dramatist, an RAF fighter pilot, a chess grandmaster and a Wall Street trader.
Each is put through a series of tests to discover who the most intelligent is.
Any clue about who might win this battle of the brains?
But, before actually congratulating the winner, I think you should have a look at these other intelligence tests:
Getting the cork out of the bottle.
How many uses can you think of for a sock?
Creating a picture called 'the Creative Process', in five minutes, with only a piece of paper and some pencil crayons.
Building the tallest tower with Jenga.
While you are watching, think of answers for the questions below:
How is intelligence currently measured?
How do the experts in the programme consider that intelligence should be measured?
We will possibly prepare a longer article giving more details, videos, etc about one of our latest English Projects at IES "La Zafra", but in the meanwhile, we'd like to show you a first chapter with some general information about the type of project, some photos and comments.
Year 2 students at "Colegio San Gregorio" are the new reporters for the ESL Times. Welcome to the Company!
This time I proposed my students to do an interview to their partner about personal things like favourite colours, hobbies or about their families.
The first step they have to write seven questions they wanted to ask to their classmates. Then they got into pairs to do the interview.
As a good journalist they had to register all the information the person gave to them. In this video you can see how Zu Lei and Diego started with the activity. They are eight years old.
When they had all the information they have to create the article in which they describe thier friend with all they information they had registered and collected with the interview.
Then they draw a picture as a photo for the newspaper in which they had to be with their friend.
Here you can see the final product of Andrés, another of my eight year-old students.
They filed the activity in their own Portfolio Folder to record their achievement and progress into English.
The students at CPR Los Castaños in Busquistar (Granada) have done a virtual trip around the world where they had to travel to visit one important monument.
They have found out about the transports that could use also timetables, places and tickets prices.
In this document you can see the result of the work.
